Nassau Beach Hotel, Cable Beach. Not quite as upscale as its sibling resort, Nassau Marriott, just a short distance away, Nassau Beach is still one of Cable Beach’s best. Marriott took over the property in the early 1990s and promptly spent mega-bucks bringing it up to the chain’s stringent standards. In 1999 they spent a further $12 million to renovate most of the guest rooms. Even so, it’s still one of the beach’s older hotels – built in the 1940s – and, as such, doesn’t have the charisma of its more glitzy neighbors.
But that’s not a bad thing. If you like a quiet, comfortable atmosphere, this is just the place for you. It has most facilities, with more than 3,000 feet of beautiful, well-kept beach, nice restaurants, and bars and cafés. There are scenic gardens and stone paths, wrought iron outdoor furniture by the pool and on the lawns, plus comfortable guest rooms with balconies, ocean views, and dressing alcoves. The casino is right next door. Guests have tennis and golf privileges. There are seven restaurants, three bars, a health club, baby-sitting service, and a range of watersports.
Rates are affordable and start around $140 per night for a double room. Reasonably priced packages are available from most of the major operators, and Marriott usually has a deal or two, to offer as well.
